SUS-MIRRI.IT - Strengthening the MIRRI Italian Research Infrastructure for Sustainable Bioscience and Bioeconomy – is funded by PNRR “Strengthening and creation of research infrastructures”, Mission 4, "Education and Research" - Component 2, "From research to business" – Investment Line 3.1, “Fund for the realization of an integrated system of research for innovation and infrastructure”, European Union – NextGenerationEU.

SUS-MIRRI.IT is coordinated by  the University of Torino, it involves 15 Institutions, with 24 Operative Units. The total financed budget is about 17 millions euro.

SUS-MIRRI.IT develop Research, Services and Training within the Italian network of culture collections MIRRI-IT. The aim is to increase the bioresources stored at the MIRRI-IT Research Infrastructures, improving their characterization and optimising their management, thus unlocking their genomic and metabolic potential.

SUS-MIRRI.IT main goals are: i) Equipe microbiological MIRRI-IT laboratories with cutting-edge technologies to better satisfy the needs of National and European stakeholders; ii) Characterise microbial collections to provide useful information to the stakeholders; iii) Implement MIRRI-IT’s organisation and set up operative procedures and quality standards; iv) Launch the Italian integrated catalogue of microorganisms; v) Conceive MIRRI-IT’s services based on partner expertise, capacity building and genetic resources; vi) Set up a single-entry point platform to promote the resources, services, cutting-edge technologies, expertise and transfer of knowledge activities; vii) Strengthen connections with stakeholders and synergies with other Health & Food RIs in Italy; viii) Develop models and plans to support financial sustainability of MIRRI-IT; ix) Maximise MIRRI-IT visibility in Italy and abroad; x) Create the Italian node of MIRRI-ERIC and contribute to services and data availability.
